So what? What now?

That's what Jesse Itzler told me (and thousands of his other nearest and dearest friends) to do in order to start this new year off.

He wasn't telling us to lose weight.

He was telling us to clear out the clutter.

He was telling us to get rid of the actual, tangible stuff in our lives that we no longer need or use, so we can actually put to use the things we do (have... need... and USE).

HE WAS SPEAKING MY LOVE LANGUAGE.

Jake and I took Jesse's words to heart. And we took every single other thing to Goodwill.

The attic is walkable.

The garage is pull-inable.

The kids' closets are... well... BABY STEPS, PEOPLE. We have to leave some kinds of goals for next Winter Break, right?! 🥴

So how does this apply to communication? And how does it apply at work?

Good questions.

It applies when we keep our communication lean. We keep our communication lean by asking ourselves two key questions after any meeting, event, or decision-making discussion:

  1. So what?

  2. What now?

These two simple questions will help you cut to the chase every time. If you need a snoodge more specificity here are three more post-meeting specific ones:

  1. What did we decide?

  2. Who needs to know?

  3. Who will do what by when?

Try them! Tell me what you think!

And if you like these ideas and want to hear more like them there's lots of free content on my Instagram and LinkedIn.

Of course, there's a paid option for content too 😉 👇

Meantime... thanks for working to get on the same page with the people in your life.

We're all in this together.

See you back here next month!
