Gradually then Suddenly

Do you, like me, never quiiiite see summer coming so quickly?
In Charlotte we have fairly mild winters and glorious (albeit brief) springs.
One day we're peeling off puffer coats, enjoying fresh blooms, and springing our clocks forward. Then, like... five minutes later... it's SUMMER.
Full-on, slap-you-in-the-face, my-thighs-are-sticking-to-this-chair summer.
I'm convinced this is how my offspring end up with built-in tank-top tanlines every year.
They go from "I put sunscreen on this morning... I'm not even that pink." Straight to, well 👇

How does this happen?
Answer: gradually, then suddenly.
So... how does this scenario play out in life?
At Work:
You don't go from “engaged team player” to “person who searches Zillow for off-grid cabins during meetings” overnight.
At Home:
It’s not like you woke up one day and thought, “You know what I’d love? A life where I eat standing up, haven’t peed alone in three years, and have 19 group texts about halftime snacks.”
For both the good and the bad, most of these things happen gradually. Then suddenly.
Which means... you guessed it... you can turn things around the same way.
A glass of water instead of 3 p.m. iced anxiety.
A five-minute walk around the block instead of shooting back a below-the-belt zinger at your spouse to "win" the argument.
Daily choices.
Not sexy.
Not always easy.
But necessary.
And helpful.
Kind of like sunscreen. 😉
See you back here next month and until then... thanks for working to get on the same page with the people in your life.
We're all in this together!
